People who want to place a temporary
power pole on an undeveloped piece of land will now have to get a
county permit to do that.
The Franklin County Commission last
week gave the county planning office approval to begin issuing
permits for temporary power poles.
Amy Hamm-Kelly said the county has seen
an inundation of power poles on vacant lots and the county has had to
issue a number of violations for those.
By requiring people to get a 50 dollar
county permit, the county will be better able to control where those
power poles are going and to inspect the poles to make sure they were
properly installed.
She said the permit will also cut down
on the number of people installing the poles for RV use on
undeveloped land.
The temporary power pole permit will be
a supplemental permit like electrical, plumbing, HVAC and roofing.
