FWRI Refreshes Red Tide Current Status Format In addition to our twice-weekly Red Tide Current Status reports on Wednesdays and Fridays, FWRI has added a "Weekly Change" infographic on our Red Tide Current Status page. Viewed in conjunction with our existing reports, concerned citizens can view how much the red tide bloom increased or decreased in their county from the last update, according to a color-coded percentage. This infographic will not replace our existing maps and reports, but is intended to be viewed in addition to our other maps, which are more specific. Instagram Favorite Calls from the public to our FWC Wildlife Alert Hotline hotline saves manatee lives. During this prolonged and severe red tide bloom, calls from the public reporting injured or stranded marine mammals are more important than ever. FWC biologists are responding to calls around the clock to reports of live and dead stranded manatees. A strong indicator that a manatee has been affected by red tide is consistent uncontrollable facial twitching and arching of their head and tail out of the water simultaneously.
