Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park to Host Public Meeting on Horn Springs Addition

~The public is invited to provide comments on the draft management plan amendment~

DEP's Florida Park Service is in the process of developing a proposed management plan amendment for the Horn Springs Addition to Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park. Citizens are invited to attend the public meeting to learn more about the proposed plans for the Horn Springs Addition and to provide their comments.
The public notice, agenda and draft plan are available online. Copies also may be obtained by emailing Rob.Lacy@floridadep.gov or by calling 850-922-6007. There will be a brief presentation at 6 p.m. Following the presentation, staff will be available for the duration of the meeting to answer questions and accept public comment. Additionally, the public is invited to review and submit comments to the Division of Recreation and Parks at FLStateParkPlanning@floridadep.gov until Aug. 22, 2018.
Potential developments and improvements proposed for the Horn Springs Addition include:
  • Parking and canoe/kayak launch improvements at Natural Bridge Road.
  • New trailhead and trail system on the east side of the St. Marks River to
    provide access to Horn Springs.
  • New overlook, picnic pavilion and canoe/kayak landing at Horn Springs.
  • New special event area to support the annual re-enactment of the Battle at
    Natural Bridge.
