Results from Tuesday's Franklin County primary elections

Franklin County has a new County judge.

Jay Gordon Shuler won the three way election on Tuesday with 57 percent of the vote.

Barbara Sanders took about 41 percent, and Roseanna Bronhard picked up just under 2 percent.

Shuler will now replace retiring judge Van Russell whose term ends on January the 8th.

There were two school board races this year – Fonda Davis will be the new face for District 3 on the school board after defeating Roderick Robinson Jr.

Davis received nearly 66 percent of the vote in that race.

Stacy Kirvin will continue to represent District 4 on the school board; he took just over 62 percent of the vote in his race again Christy Thompson.

In the tax collectors race, Rick Watson will face Teresa Ann Martin and Connie Polous in the general election this November.
Watson, who is currently serving as tax collector, defeated Jamie Crum in the republican primary with just over 62 percent of the vote.
Teresa Ann Martin took just over 66 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary against Tami Ray Hutchinson.
Polous is running with no party affiliation.

In state and federal races, Franklin County republicans voted for Rick Scott for Senate.

About half of local republicans also voted for Ron Desantis for Governor while about half of local Democrats voted for Gwen Graham.

Franklin County republicans cast their ballot for Ashley Moody for Attorney General and Matt Caldwell for Commissioner of Agriculture.

Franklin County Democrats voted for Brandon Peters for congress, Sean Shaw for attorney general and Nikki Fried for Commissioner of Agriculture.

David Frank took about 45 percent of the local vote in the non-partisan race for circuit judge.


Nearly 4000 Franklin County's voters cast a ballot in Tuesday's primary election.
