The
Franklin County sheriff's office recently completed work on the new
medical room at the Franklin County jail.
The
medical room is in a section of the jail that was used for in-person
visits before the jail went to video visitation.
Sheriff
AJ Smith announced plans for the new medical station in April – he
said the larger space was needed to give nurses at the jail more room
to work.
The
previous medical facility was not only too small but was also filled
with old medical records because the jail's medical facility has not
yet moved to a computerized system.
The
conversion was done relatively inexpensively as much of the work was
done by inmates.
