Franklin County commission approves additional repairs to Timber Island Bridge

County commissioners have agreed to pay for needed repairs to the Timber Island Bridge.

Last year the board hired a company called BroadSpectrum to repair the Timber Island bridge and the Crooked River Bridge.

They were hired because the county road department doesn't have the proper equipment for that type of work.

Repairs to Crooked River Bridge have been completed but it turns out there were additional problems with the Timber Island bridge that weren't budgeted for.

During repairs the company discovered an abundance of material that has filled the joints up over the years; some joints are actually higher than the bridge deck.

The fix is to replace all of the pourable joint seals, which increases the total cost of the project from $9,200 to $14,700.

Commissioners on Tuesday agreed to pay the extra money to get the project finished as soon as possible.
