Franklin County commissioners have
signed off on a burn ban in Franklin County.
The ban actually took effect on May the
12th, but commissioners were asked to ratify the order
since they had not met since the ban was imposed.
The ban prohibits open fires, yard
trash burning and the use of outdoor burning devices.
There is an exception for above ground,
self-contained cooking grills.
The use of charcoal briquettes is
allowed as long as the briquettes are thoroughly extinguished with
water after use.
If you have any questions you can
contact the Franklin County Emergency Management Office at
850-653-8977.
There is also a burn ban in effect in
Gulf County.
The bans will remain in effect until
our area gets enough rainfall to lower the chance of wildfires.
