TALLAHASSEE, Fla., June 6, 2020 – The Apalachicola National Forest will temporarily close Silver Lake and Trout Pond Recreation Areas along with Spring Hill Motorcycle Trailhead tonight for the protection of public safety and to secure these facilities to prevent damage as a result of Tropical Storm Cristobal.
Forest Service officials will inspect and assess these recreation sites Monday morning during regularly scheduled cleaning operations from 8 -10 a.m. These sites will be reopened based on post-storm conditions of facilities and trails. The public should use caution when traveling in the area. Excessive rainfall can impair visibility and wash out Forest Service roads.
