COVID-19 booster shots are now available at the health departments in Franklin and Gulf Counties by appointment.

On October 21, 2021, the Advisory Committee on Immunizations Practices recommended the use of COVID-19 vaccination boosters for both the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine under the current emergency use authorization.

Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine boosters were previously recommended on September 24th.

Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 booster vaccines are recommended for individuals 18 years of age and older who have completed their initial COVID-19 vaccination series and at least 6 months have passed since the completion of their second dose.

You should also meet at least one of the following criteria: if you are 65 years or older, reside in a long-term care facility, have underlying medical condition or have increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of your job.

Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 booster vaccines are recommended for individuals who have received their initial COVID-19 vaccination and at least two months have passed since their initial dose.
