NOAA Fisheries Awards $2.3 Million for Bycatch Reduction Research

NOAA Fisheries has awarded funding for 13 projects totaling approximately $2.3 million under the Bycatch Reduction Engineering Program. The awards support key partners in the research and development of innovative approaches and strategies for reducing bycatch in our nation’s fisheries.


Final Rule to Establish National Minimum Insurance Requirements for NOAA Fisheries Programs That Permit or Approve Observer Providers

NOAA Fisheries created a final rule to establish a national minimum suite of insurance requirements for authorized observer providers. Ensuring equity for observers across this insurance landscape nationally was a priority for NOAA and its observer providers.

After a 2-year pause, NOAA Fisheries and our partners are excited to announce the return of the Annual Belugas Count! event—Saturday, September 17, in the greater Anchorage area. Come help spot and count endangered Cook Inlet beluga whales and learn about these iconic Alaska marine mammals from species experts.

Preliminary Survey Results for 2022 Eastern Bering Sea Crab Survey
