Franklin
County commissioners have approved a temporary burn ban.
The
ban takes effect today, and it includes the cities of Apalachicola and
Carrabelle.
The
ban prohibits open fires, yard trash burning and the use of outdoor burning
devices.
There is an exception for outdoor grills used
in preparing food.
The grill must be monitored at all times and be
completely extinguished immediately following completion of food preparation.
The ban also prohibits the use of fireworks and
flares.
The burn ban will remain in effect for 7 days,
and can be extended another 7 days if necessary.
