On Monday, Governor Ron DeSantis recognized the four-year anniversary of Hurricane Michael by announcing over $126 million in new awards for 24 communities impacted by Hurricane Michael through the Department of Economic Opportunity’s Rebuild Florida Program.
The Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Program funds large-scale infrastructure projects to make communities more resilient to future disasters.
Among the recipients are the City of Carrabelle which received nearly 2.2 million dollars to rehabilitate and repair 9000 linear feet of sewer lines and other elements of the city’s sanitary sewer system.
The City of Wewahitchka was awarded 5.5 million dollars to repair and replace portions of the storm sewer system and Liberty County was awarded 1.8 million dollars to construct a new hardened emergency medical services facility.
An additional $42 million dollars was awarded to communities through the Rebuild Florida Mitigation General Infrastructure Program:
Gulf County will receive over 2.6 million dollars to pave and resurface roadways and improve stormwater and drainage infrastructure and an additional 4.7 million dollars to replace and elevate the South Diana Street Bridge.
