Repair work on Alligator Drive at Alligator Point should be complete by the end of the month.
The final completion date for the FEMA funded repairs of Alligator Drive is set for October 31st.
The project has been affected by supply chain delays that has significantly stalled the project as well as weather delays because of a very wet spring and summer.
The county is replacing about 1100 feet of the two-lane road and rebuilding the shoulder, both of which were damaged by a nine-foot storm surge during Hurricane Michael in 2018.
The road also was damaged by Hurricane Hermine in 2016.
At this point, the concrete cap and sheet pile work is finished on both sides of the road and paving is nearly complete.
On Tuesday, the Franklin County commission agreed to spend about 6200 dollars more to resurface a small section of road outside of the work area to allow for a smooth transition between old and new asphalt.
