There will soon be a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 30A and Highway 98 between Apalachicola and Port St. Joe.

There is currently a yield sign there for drivers entering Highway 98 from Indian Pass and Cape San Blas but that has led to numerous accidents and near accidents over the years.

The stop sign should help alleviate that by requiring drivers to stop before entering the highway.

The change is part of the ongoing 3.4-million-dollar project to widen and resurface about 3.4 miles of County Road 30A from Highway 98 toward Indian Pass.

The project will also re-stripe the road, add signage, fix some drainage and add grass to the shoulders.
