Consideration of a revised proposal for “The
Landings at St. George” has been delayed until next month because the Franklin
County planning and zoning board could not get a quorum for tonight’s meeting.
The issue will now be considered at the
Planning and Zoning Board meeting on August the 13th.
“The Landings at St. George” is a planned unit development that would be located on the
bayside of St. George Island across the street from Harry A’s.
It
would be built on about 26 acres of property that’s is zoned C-3 Commercial
Recreational and partially zoned R-1 Single Family Residential.
The original plan included a marina with 10 wet
slips and 200 dry slips, a restaurant, 10,000 square feet of retail space, 63
single family houses and up to 33 condominium units.
A public hearing was scheduled for the original
proposal last month, but was cancelled at the request of the developers, who
have now revised their plans.
The
revised PUD removes much of the residential component and substitutes a 150-room
hotel.
It
still includes 33 condominium units and 12 single family residences as well as
a marina, a three-story restaurant and 10 thousand square feet of retail space.
Once the proposal is considered by the Planning and
Zoning board, it will go before the Franklin County Commission who will have to
decide whether to take the development to a public hearing.
