Local businesses might be able to get some federal money to hire and pay for new employees.
The Gulf Coast Workforce Board has submitted a $5.9 million grant proposal to the Agency for Workforce Innovation to fund a Florida Back to Work program in the region. Florida Back to Work is a subsidized employment program that uses federal funds to pay for 95% of new employees’ wages and benefits through September 30th, 2010.
Both public and private sector businesses are eligible to participate, but there are a number of requirements to take part.
That includes attending a Back to Work Workshop on Thursday, April 8th at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex. The positions that need to be filled will also have to be posted on the Employ Florida Marketplace and the employers portion of the new employee’s salaries will have to be pre-paid.
For more information about the Florida Back Work program you can attend the Back to Work Workshop or call (850) 913-3285.
