If you been considering volunteering at the Humane Society but don't like the idea of spending the day at the Adoption Center – there is another way to help out.
The Franklin County Humane Society is kicking off a PET-FOR-A-DAY program that will help get some of the local pound puppies in front of the public where they might be adopted.
To take part you need to be a part-time or full-time resident of Franklin County and willing to fill-out a volunteer application and become a member of the Humane Society. Then you can come to the shelter, choose a dog to spend a day or two with and take it with you. The Humane Society hopes you’ll take you loaner dog to the beach, to the dog-friendly restaurants or for a stroll around Apalachicola which would increase the chance for adoption.
At minimum, your pet for the day will have a day away from the confines of the Adoption Center, have an opportunity to play and be exercised and receive much needed attention.
If you would like to learn more, please call the Humane Society at 670-8417 and talk to Karen.
