Careless driving leads to three car accident in Eastpoint

A 78 year old Eastpoint man was charged with careless driving after causing a three car accident in Eastpoint on Monday.

The Highway patrol said John Dodds was charged with careless driving after he rear ended a 1996 Ford Pickup driven by Brett Hancock of Covington, Georgia, who in turn was pushed into the rear of a Chevy 4 door driven by 67 year old Charles Mayo of Eastpoint.

Police say the three vehicles were headed east on Highway 98 at 10 o’clock Monday morning when Mister Mayo stopped to turn left into a driveway. Mister Hancock, who was directly behind Mister Mayo also came to a stop. Mister Dodds, however, did not see that the two vehicles in front of him had stopped and plowed into the rear end of Mister Hancock’s pickup truck.

Mister Dodds did suffer minor injuries in the accident – there were no other injuries reported. Mister Hancock’s truck suffered about 8000 dollars in damage, the other two vehicles about 2500 dollars each.
