The Florida Department of Health takes weekly water samples from swimming area around Florida to make sure there are no dangerous bacteria in the water. The Health Department is also monitoring Florida waters for any sign of oil from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
So far no Florida beaches have been affected by the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Local tourism officials say they especially want people to know that there are currently no impacts to Franklin County’s beaches. The local tourist development council has begun issuing a daily beach report to reassure visitors that Franklin County is oil free and open for business.
You can find those beach reports plus much more local information at the TDC website at www.anaturalescape.com.
