This year’s second best beach is Siesta Beach in Sarasota – it was ranked number 3 last year.
Florida had a second beach in the top ten, number 10 was Cape Florida State Park at Key Biscayne – which fell from number 9 on the list last year.
As “Dr. Beach,” Leatherman has selected the annual Top 10 Beaches since 1991.
He uses fifty criteria to evaluate the beaches, including water and sand quality, as well as facilities and environmental management.
And don’t forget our own world-class beaches while you are out and about this Summer – the beach at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park in Gulf County was ranked the top beach in the nation in 2002.
