Franklin County commission to hold emergency special meeting today

The Franklin County Commission will hold a emergency meeting this afternoon to discuss the ongoing Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The board will meet at 5 this afternoon at the Courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.

There will be representatives from BP and the US Coast Guard and possibly other government officials and contractors on hand to talk with the county about the boom plan, the vessel of opportunity program, a local claims office, and other items relating to the deepwater horizon leak.

The meeting is open to the public – again it will be held at 5 this afternoon at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
