Local law enforcement are investigating the deaths of two men found in the Apalachicola River over the Memorial Day weekend.
The men's names have not yet been released, though Apalachicola Police chief Bobby Varnes said they the men have been identified,
Both were young, between 25 and 30 years old, and are of Guatemalan descent.
The men’s names will be released once the next of kin has been notified.
The body of the first man was found in the Apalachicola River Saturday afternoon just down from Papa Joe's restaurant.
The second body was found Sunday afternoon inside a Geo Prism that was submerged in the Apalachicola River off the boat ramp at the Mill Pond.
Police believe the two men had been drinking on Friday and drove down the ramp and drowned.
At this time officials believe the deaths were an accident– though officials are waiting for the results of toxicology tests to see what role alcohol played a role in the deaths
