Local people finding jobs through Florida Back to Work Program

Franklin County will put 5 local people to work under the Florida Back to Work initiative – the City of Apalachicola is also hiring 5 people through the program.

The back to work program uses federal money to increase employment in the state by paying up to 95 percent of new workers salaries and benefits through September the 30th. Governments, private businesses and non-profit groups are taking part in the program.

Franklin County will have to pay about 3000 dollars for the 5 workers for the next 4 months. If the workers stay on after September, the county would have to cover the full cost of their wages and benefits.

The five county workers will start this week with the Parks and Recreation Department though they could be used in other areas if needed.

Positions Apalachicola expects to hire are a laborer for the water and sewer department, a cultural/literacy aide, a senior care receptionist/secretary, a parks and recreation maintenance person and an office assistant.
