Franklin County commissioners Tuesday accepted a US Flag which has been flown over Afghanistan in combat.
Billy Briscoe, who now lives in Alligator Point, presented the flag to the commission.
He said the flag had been flown in battle on June 11th in Afghanistan where he recently served.
A plaque with the flag said the flag represents American resolve in the face of the attacks of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
County officials say the flag will now be flown over the courthouse, local post offices as well as at the three servicemen statue in Apalachicola and at the soldier’s memorial in Carrabelle before the flag is placed in the glass case in the courthouse annex foyer.
