BP approves another 7 million dollars to advertise Florida

BP has agreed to provide another $7 million dollars to help advertise Northwest Florida.
The group agreed last week to provide the money to the Northwest Florida Travel Council for tourism marketing and advertising to provide real-time information about the status of beaches in the areas.
The money will also pay for television, radio, print and Web-based advertising.
The state had asked for 50 million dollars and Governor Charlie Crist has sent a letter requesting another $43 million from BP to complete a second round of a tourism marketing and advertising campaign.
BP already paid $25 million to Florida early in the summer for use in tourism campaigns.
Governor Crist said the money is needed to promote tourism to coastal areas of the state and to address misperceptions held by potential travelers to the Sunshine State through tourism marketing and advertising.
