The Franklin County Courthouse in Apalachicola will close early tomorrow to give workers time to install new electrical lines to the building.
The courthouse will close at noon.
The electrical work at the courthouse is needed because of a number of recent lightning strikes as well as a recent fire in the courthouse elevator.
The courthouse was hit by lightning most recently on Sunday during a severe storm.
The lightning struck the chimney on the furnace, knocking a 20 pound piece of the chimney off the building.
It landed on the roof of the courthouse poking a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom connected to the Jury room.
The fire in the elevator happened about three weeks ago.
The work on Friday is expected to take 8 to 9 hours to complete.
Most of the offices in the courthouse will close at noon also, thought court filings at the clerk of the courts office will continue through regular hours.
The filings will be accepted at the Planning and Zoning office at the courthouse annex adjacent to the main courthouse.
The courthouse annex will also be open for regular hours on Friday.
