Mike Sole resigns from Department of Environmental Protection

Mike Sole has resigned as head of the Department of Environmental Protection, a job he has held since December of 2006.
His last day at work will be on September the 10th.
Mister Sole, who also led the state's response to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, submitted his resignation Monday to Governor Charlie Crist.
Governor Crist praised Mister Sole for his leadership in safeguarding Florida’s environment and on his work in increasing state government’s energy efficiency and reliance on alternative fuels such as solar energy and ethanol
Governor Crist has appointed Mimi Drew as an interim replacement for Sole when he leaves next month.
She has served as the agency’s deputy secretary of regulatory programs since 2007, and previously as director of the division of water resource management since January 1995.
