Franklin County unemployment fell very slightly in October after four straight months of increases.
Unemployment in Franklin County fell from 8.7 to 8.6 percent in October; 430 Franklin County residents were looking for work last month.
Only 9 Florida counties had an unemployment rate lower than ours.
48 of Florida’s 67 counties had unemployment rates above 10 percent last month with the highest unemployment in the state in Hendry County at 18.3 percent.
The statewide unemployment average in October was nearly 11.6 percent.
Looking at counties around the area –
Unemployment in Gulf County fell slightly from 10.1 percent to 10 percent.
There were 654 people looking for work in that county in October.
Wakulla County’s unemployment fell from 8.5 percent to 8percent – 1319 people were looking for work there.
Unemployment in Liberty County fell last month from 7 percent to 6.9 percent giving Liberty County the lowest unemployment rate for any county in Florida.
