Census shows Florida's population grows by 3 million

Florida grew by nearly 3 million people between 2000 and 2010 and that’s going to give us a little more say in Congress.
Because of the growth in population, Florida has gained two congressional seats bringing us to 27.
The new seats will likely go to central and south Florida where the majority of the population growth was seen.
The new congressional districts will be created next year and should be  adopted during the 2012 legislative session.
Florida is currently the fourth most-populous state in the nation following California, Texas and New York.
Currently 18.8 million people live in the Sunshine State.
