It’s that time of the year again when Florida elementary students canshow there writing and artistic abilities, and win some great prizes as well. “The Best Time of the Year Story Writing and Illustration contest”, sponsored by the Florida Lottery, WEDU, and Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine, is open to Florida Students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.
Students work will be judged on how well their entries relate to “The Best Time of the Year”, the Florida State Fair slogan, by incorporating theme, concepts, experiences, and ideas that pertain to the story or illustration.
“This event allows our young Fair goers to express their love for the State Fair,” said Rip Stalvey, Director of Marketing for the Florida State Fair Authority. “We pride ourselves as an organization on being advocates of education, and this is just one of the ways we demonstrate that.”
Some of the awards that students can win are Fair tickets, Ribbons, and even U.S Savings Bonds. An awards ceremony will be held at the Florida State Fairgrounds on February 19, 2011.
Contest rules and entry forms will be available at elementary schools in the area, and also available for download at www.wedu.org.
