A state prisoner who escaped from a work crew in Gulf County Wednesday morning was captured just three hours later in Lanark Village.
The Department of Corrections said that 32 year old Lloyd Dow escaped from his Gulf Forestry camp works quad at 9:38 Tuesday morning.
His squad was working in Port St. Joe.
Mister Dow managed to steal a city vehicle and headed toward Franklin County; sheriff’s officer spotted him Carrabelle and chased his vehicle to Lanark Village where Mister Dow fled into the woods.
K-9 units from around the area where brought out to search; a unit from Liberty Correctional found the escaped prisoner just off Kentucky Street at 12:50.
Mister Dow was serving a two and a half year sentence at the Gulf Forestry Camp for credit card fraud and burglary.
He would have been released in January of 2013.
He will now likely face more charges including escape and theft of a city vehicle, which will keep him in jail even longer.
The Department of Corrections said he will never be allowed on a work squad again.
