Franklin County School earns a B grade

The Franklin County Seahawks have something to cheer about today.
The Franklin County School has received a B grade from the state; it was one of 192 schools to get a B.
The grade shows two years of continued improvements in the school system.
In 2008, Franklin County schools received a D grade, last year it was a C.
The grade was decided using a number of criteria.
Half of a high school’s grade is now based on the performance of their students on the FCAT, and the remaining 50 percent is based on factors like the school’s graduation rate, the number of students that take advanced classes, and the success students show on college entrance exams like the SAT.
The Franklin County School will benefit from the increased grade – because the Franklin County School improved at least one performance grade from the previous year its eligible to earn an additional $75 per student.
