Gulf of Mexico seafood served at the White House

Gulf of Mexico seafood was on display at the White House last night.
The White House hosted a holiday reception Tuesday where they served guests a seafood bar highlighting Gulf shrimp and Florida stone crabs.
Nearly 2,000 lbs of shrimp and crabs from the Gulf were shipped to the White House for their 2010 holiday parties.
Gulf of Mexico seafood was also on the The White House Mess menu on Tuesday including Seafood Gumbo, Oyster Po-Boy, BBQ Shrimp and Speckled Trout.
The focus on Gulf of Mexico was designed to draw attention to the fact that Gulf seafood is plentiful and safe after the BP oil spill.
The Seafood industry along the gulf coast has seen a slump since the oil spill because of safety concerns.
