Buzzett tapped to head DCA


            An Apalachicola native has been named to head up the Florida Department of Community Affairs.
New Governor Rick Scott has named Billy Buzzett as Secretary of the DCA, the state’s land planning and community development agency.
The Department ensures that new growth complies with the Florida’s growth management laws
Billy Buzzett is a fifth generation Floridian born in Apalachicola.
He has a degree in civil engineering and a law degree and worked for much of the past 8 years as vice president of strategic planning with the St. Joe Company.
Governor Scott said mister Buzzett will help create the most favorable possible climate for job creation adding that Billy understands the large scale planning process and has shown an ability to work with local communities to develop a win-win situation for both the landowner and the community.
Governor Scott said that Billy is focused on helping him make government smaller, less intrusive and consistent with efforts to increase investments in Florida and spur job creation.
