County Wide Code Red Alert:
This is a county wide code red alert to all residents and businesses utilizing the
CPSJ drinking water supply. Due to an electrical failure at the water treatment
plant, the water plant is down. Emergency repairs are underway, but we are
urging all customers to please conserve water throughout the next several hours.
Some customers may be experiencing low water pressure and in some cases
may have no water at all. Due to the loss of pressure throughout portions of the
distribution system, which supplies your drinking water, there is a concern for
possible contamination. Therefore, as a precaution, we advise that all water used
for drinking or cooking be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an
alternative, bottled water may be used for these purposes.
Once the water treatment plant has been repaired, bacteriological samples of the
water will be collected and sent to the laboratory. This precautionary boil water
notice will remain in effect until the bacteriological samples show the water is safe
to drink.
You will be notified as soon as possible once we have restored service and are
producing water. You will also be notified as soon as the PBWN is lifted. We
appreciate your cooperation during this emergency.
If you have any questions you may contact the City of Port St. Joe Wastewater
Treatment Plant at 229-6390 or at the Public Works Office at 229-8247.
Thank you.
