Franklin County commission meets Tuesday

Franklin County Commissioners will open proposals on Tuesday from architectural and engineering firms that could help make the Carrabelle Municipal Complex and the Franklin County Courthouse more energy efficient.

Franklin County has a half million dollar energy conservation grant to replace windows at the Courthouse and at the Carrabelle Municipal Complex as well as to install solar panels on the courthouse annex.

The county is required to retain the services of an engineering firm as part of the grant; it may have to hire more than one engineering firm to do all of the work, because it will likely take an electrical engineer for the solar panels and an architectural engineer to properly install the windows in the historic courthouse.

Also on Tuesday the commission will meet with a company called Culbertson West out of Indiana.

That group provides locations for special events like weddings and has an interest in managing the Armory in Apalachicola.

St. George Island Fire Chief jay Abbott will also be at tomorrow’s meeting asking for permission to close the roads at the St. George Island public beach for Chili cookoff which is coming up the first weekend in March.

If you would like to see the full agenda we’ve posted it on the news page at oysterradio.com.

The county meetings are open to the public so if you would like to come to tomorrow’s meeting, it begins at 9 AM at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
