Franklin County Commissioners will choose an architectural firm tomorrow to begin the work on a new hospital in Apalachicola.
Seven companies from as far away as Nashville and Sarasota have shown an interest in providing their services for the hospital project.
Having an architect under contract is the first step the county has to take to get a 14 million dollars federal loan to build the new hospital around the existing Weems Memorial building.
County commissioners will also hear from Dan Tonsmeier on Tuesday about activities at Indian Creek Park in Eastpoint and they’ll hear from David Heil of the Florida Department of Agriculture about the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Commission, the group which oversees the safety of the US commercial oyster industry.
The county commission meeting is open to the public, it starts at 9 AM at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
