Georgia residents arrested on drug charges

NEWS RELEASE

On Friday, July 8, 2011, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, along with members of the uniform division and the Carrabelle Police Department, conducted a drug investigation in the Carrabelle area of Franklin County. The investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals from Austell, Georgia. During the investigation, Deputies seized a 1994 Jeep Cherokee; $2628.00 in US currency; 288 prescription pills, including Roxicodone, Somas and drug paraphernalia. 

Melisa M. Kimmons, age 41 of 1972 Cardell Road, Austell Georgia, was charged with Introduction of Contraband into a Correctional Facility; Sale of a Controlled Substance; Possession of a Controlled Substance with the intent to Distribute; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Legend Drug without a Prescription. Kimmons is being held in the Franklin County Jail under bond. 

Michael Shane Kilgore, age 39, of 1972 Cardell Road, Austell, Georgia, was charged with Sale of a Controlled Substance; Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Legend Drug Without a Prescription. Kilgore is being held in the Franklin County Jail under bond.

Additional charges are pending further investigation.
