Humane Society DAWGS program gets 2000 dollar grant

The St. Joseph Bay Humane Society has received a 2000 dollar grant to help continue its DAWGS in prison program.
The grant from the T. Douglas Hale Fund of The Philadelphia Foundation will help support the dog-inmate program.
D.A.W.G.S. in Prison allows prisoners to work with local pound puppies to make the dogs more sociable and hopefully more adoptable.
DAWGS stands for Developing Adoptable dogs With Good Sociability – its designed to result in permanent homes for the dogs, while teaching inmates viable job skills which will hopefully lead to productive jobs and a law-abiding life upon release.
The grant will provide training tools and pay for medical expenses for the dogs.
