Volunteer Fire Departments
from Eastpoint, Apalachicola , St. George Island and Sumatra along with the Division of Forestry were called out
to a small woods fire on Brickyard Road on Monday.
The call came in just after three o’clock in the afternoon.
The fire threatened one home
but did no damage.
There were no injuries from
the ten acre blaze.
St. George Island Fire chief
Jay Abbott said so many trucks were needed because there are no fire hydrants
on Brickyard Road, so there needed to be enough trucks so some could fight the
fire while others were refilling their water tanks.
