Wakulla County Sheriff's office identifies body found near Sopchoppy

The Wakulla County sheriff’s office has identified the body found in a camper near Sopchoppy over the weekend.

Sheriff’s officials said the man’s name is Michael Arthur Ballard.

He was 68 years old and hailed from South Florida though he was living in a camper trailer on Bugger Bottom Road in Sopchoppy recently.

His badly decomposed body was found on the floor of the camper on Saturday.

The person whose property he was using found the body after becoming concerned when he saw wildlife near the camper.

Police do not suspect foul play – an autopsy indicates Mister Ballard died of natural causes.
