Sanders re-appointed to Transportation Corridor Authority

County Commissioner Cheryl Sanders has been re-appointed to the Northwest Florida Transportation Corridor Authority.

The Authority was created by the legislature in 2005.

The group is charged with developing a master plan for Highway 98.

That plan is supposed to focus on reducing congestion, increasing safety, stimulating local economies and providing better hurricane evacuation.

Commissioner Sanders was one of three people re-appointed to the 8 member board; two new members were also named by the governor’s office.

The returning members include Stephen Norris of Port St. Joe who co-owns Classic Coastal construction and Robert Montgomery of Pensacola who owns Montgomery realtors.
The new members are Scott Gaby of Crawfordville and Gordon Sprague of Gulf Breeze.
All of the members’ terms will end in August of 2016.
