Mosquitoes still posing a problem in our area

Even though temperatures are getting cooler, mosquitoes are still posing a problem in the area.
Last week the Florida Department of Health issued a mosquito-borne illness alert for Leon County and Wakulla County remains under a mosquito-borne advisory.
Leon county issued the alert after a second human case of West Nile Virus was confirmed in a 60-year-old man who lived outside and traveled in both Leon and Wakulla counties during the time he was exposed.
Both county health departments are reminding residents and visitors to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.
That is most easily done by wearing long sleeved shirts and long pants especially at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
You should also use mosquito repellant containing DEET.
To cut down on mosquitoes on your property, remove any standing water from your yard.
