 Carrabelle Riverfront Festival April 26-27
Carrabelle's annual Riverfront Festival will be held Friday and Saturday April 26-27 along the scenic Carrabelle waterfront. This annual two day Spring Festival features original artwork, music and food. The theme of this year's event is "Pirates of the Carabellean" so set your sails and get ready to enjoy annual events like  The Fishy Fashion Show, Franklin County Humane Society's Pet Parade andThe Procession of the Species. The historic Governor Stone schooner will be docked along the waterfront for tours and there will be live music, food and lots of activities.The hours of the festival are 4-8 pm on Friday and 9-5 pm on Saturday. Admission is free. 

Governor Stone Arrives 
The 1877 schooner Governor Stonewill be in Franklin County April 19 through 29 to take part in two maritime events planned for April. This 65’ shallow draft cargo schooner is a floating national historic monument and is the last known survivor of a class of vessels that once plied Apalachicola Bay and near-shore waters all along the Gulf Coast. The vessel will be in Apalachicola as part of theApalachicola Antique Boat ShowApril 20 and then will sail to Carrabelle to take part in theCarrabelle Riverfront Festival, April 26-27.

Fishing Season Heats Up
Grab your fishing rods and tackle box, the fishing tournament season heats up this month in Franklin County. 
 
April 13- Redtrout Shootout $75 entry per angler and a guaranteed cash purse. Anglers launch from any boat ramp then weigh their catch in at C-Quarters Marina in Carrabelle. 
July 20 - Youth Fishing Tournament, C-Quarters Marina. Open to all kids 16 and under. Registration required on site.
June 8- Fisherman's Choice Youth Fishing Tournament.Charles and Rex Pennycuff host the annual Fisherman’s Choice Youth Fishing Tournament for kids 16 and under. The kids will fish for fresh and saltwater species.
June 14-16 - 25th Annual Big Bend Saltwater Classic
Father's Day Weekend Event with more than $50,000 in cash and prizes.

Maritime Heritage Honored This Month
 Franklin County and the coastal communities of Apalachicola, Carrabelle and St. George Island pay homage to maritime history this month with the Apalachicola Antique and Classic Boat ShowCarrabelle Riverfront Festival,Apalachicola Maritime Museum lectures andLighthouse Dayactivities.

Spring Art Workshops 
The Apalachicola School of Art continues a series of art workshops this month.
 
April 26-28 - Lori Putnam Oil Painting Workshop - Workshop includes lectures and demonstrations, individual painting time, lots of one-on-one instruction, and personal and group critiques to promote your progress.
 
June 5-7 - Perry Austin Plein Air Simplified.Offered outside, this workshop focuses on plein air basics. Plan on painting multiple pieces each day on location.

Plein Air Painters to Capture Forgotten Coast May 2-12 
Nationally acclaimed artists will gather on Florida's Forgotten Coast to paint the noteworthy stretch between Mexico Beach and Alligator Point, as part of the Annual Plein Air Invitational, May 2-12, 2013.
  

 Apalachicola Home Tour May 3-4
Apalachicola's annual home and garden tour is scheduled for May 3-4 and will feature a variety of homes ranging from century-old houses to charming bungalows and contemporary homes featuring new energy sources. This year's tour will again feature a symposium preceding the tour. For more information, click here.
 
Antique & Classic Boat Show April 20
 Apalachicola's 15th Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show will be held along the town's historic riverfront on April 20 and will feature antique and classic boats, workboats, antique outboard motors, nautical antiques and educational booths.The Apalachicola Maritime Museum will host the St. Petersburg Shanty Singers for a program incorporating history and maritime music of significance to the Apalachicola River and Bay from 7-8 to be followed by a shrimp boil on the docks. 
 

 AMM Lecture Series 
The Apalachicola Maritime Museum continues its series of maritime lectures and boat building classes this Spring.

Panhandle Players Perform Jury Room April 19-21
Eleven jurors vote "guilty" and one votes "no." The plot unfolds as the crime is re-enacted! A Drama by C.B. Gilford and directed by Margy Oehlert at the Dixie Theatre in Apalachicola. Tickets $ 15.00. Click here for more information.

Coastal Marine Lab Open House April 20
Florida State University's Coastal & Marine Laboratory at Turkey Point will host an open house on April 20. The event will feature exhibits, activities, a raffle and tour of the facility's newest research vessel. Click here for details.
