Recreational Fishing for Red Snapper in the Gulf of Mexico

What:  NOAA Fisheries Southeast Regional Administrator, Dr. Roy Crabtree is hosting a teleconference about the 2013 recreational red snapper fishing season to discuss how we arrived where we are today, short-term and long-term management options and hear from you as to how we can work together moving forward.

When: Thursday, April 4 from 11am-1pm EST

Where: Please dial 1-888-282-0566 and use the password: RED SNAPPER

Why: Although red snapper are recovering quickly in the Gulf of Mexico, the recreational fishing season keeps getting shorter.  The 2013 season is projected to be the shortest on record and could be even shorter off those states that implement less restrictive regulations in their waters.

We understand many fishermen are dissatisfied with the increasingly restrictive management regime and the lack of cooperation between state and federal governments.  Please click here to learn more about the 2013 red snapper recreational season and management options.
