Local legislators recognized by Small County Coalition

A number of state representatives have been recognized by the Small county Coalition.

The Small County Coalition announced the recipients of “The Leadership Award” for service during the 2013 Legislative Session.

The award is given to state legislators for their overall effort and willingness to work with the members of the Small County Coalition.

Among those recognized are Senator Bill Montford, Representative Halsey Beshears and representative Jimmy Patronis.

The legislators worked closely with the Small County Coalition members on supporting key appropriations, finding solutions to Medicaid Cost-Share, providing leadership on economic development in rural areas, protecting jobs, and, on overall awareness and openness in working on behalf of small county issues.

The list of legislators recognized was announced during the Annual Business meeting of the Small County Coalition held in Tampa on June 27th.

The Small County Coalition is a statewide alliance of 37 county commissions from small and rural counties with a population smaller than 150,000.

The purpose of the Coalition is to give increased visibility and support to the issues to small counties and rural communities.
