Search continues today for missing oysterman

An Eastpoint man is presumed to have drowned Monday after his oysterboat sank near the St. George Island bridge.

The boat went down in rough waters a few hundred yards west of the bridge at about 8:30 Monday morning near the old bridge causeway.

There were two people on board, 18 year old Billie Murray and 21 year old Brandon Wayne Creamer.

Miss Murray was rescued from the rough waters by another boat, Mister Creamer was not found.

Crews from FWC, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, and a boat from the Gulf County sheriff’s office along with private boats searched throughout the day in the vicinity of the sunken vessel.

One of the boats was equipped with sonar to look for a body under water.

Shrimp boats were used as part of the search Monday evening dragging their nets in the area around the accident.

Boats returned to the site early this morning to continue the search.
