Franklin county seeks funding to repave Ellis Van Vleet Street

County commissioners have agreed to apply for state money to repave Ellis van Vleet street in Apalachicola.

The county is eligible to submit one project for consideration of funding through the County Incentive Grant program.

The requirements are that the road that is addressed through the grant help relieve congestion on the state Highway System.

Ellis van Vleet fits that requirement – it runs from 17th St to 24th St and represents a by-pass for approximately .6 miles of Highway 98.

If the request is approved it would be eligible for funding in 2016.

The county already has two projects approved through the County Incentive Grant program.

They are Oak St in Lanark Village which should be funded in 2014 and a large loop in Eastpoint containing North and South Bayshore Drives and Otter Slide Road to 6th Street which will be funded in 2015.
