Franklin county gets 4 bids for Carrabelle beach bike path

Franklin county received bids from 4 companies interested in building a multi-use path from Carrabelle beach to the Carrabelle lighthouse.

The path will allow people to safely walk or bike between the beach and the lighthouse.

The county has nearly 450 thousand dollars in state grant money to do the construction.

The 4 bids ranged from about 307 thousand dollars to nearly 640 thousand.

The bids are currently being considered by a committee.

There was a problem with bids for the engineering portion of the project.

The county only received one bid for engineering but did not open it because the state is requiring at least 3 bids before allowing the county to move forward.
