
Gulf County Sheriff Mike Harrison announces an arrest in the murder of Renee Gail Coffey (51). The victim’s son, Jarrod Powell Slick (23), was served with a warrant for murder at the Gulf County Detention Facility (GCDF) today.
The investigation began on Sunday, May 18th, after a 911 call was received from 7525 Cape San Blas Road. The call was placed by Slick, who told the 911 operator his mother had been “assaulted.” Once Gulf County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) Deputies arrived the victim was discovered in the residence unconscious and later succumbed to her injuries.
Slick was detained by deputies and later interviewed by investigators. Slick was developed as a prime suspect in the case.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined Slick and the victim were the only occupants of the residence at the time of the offense. The evidence was revealed though the victims home security system.
Slick was held in the GCDF on unrelated charges during the investigation. He was arrested and booked this morning on the warrant. Slick was first appeared and is currently held without bond.
